The thing that damages cars here is not terrain, it is the speed bumps — tall, usually unpainted, and often placed just past a bend — along with the drainage channels cut across village roads and the kerbs at beach car parks. - A passport with the entry stamp and your national driving licence. We have to see the stamp: a foreign licence is valid in the Dominican Republic for three months from the date you entered the country, so the entry date decides how long you may legally drive.
- Can I rent a car for longer than three months?
- The car, yes — a foreign licence, no. It stops being valid three months after your entry date, so a longer rental has to be planned around that. Write to us with your dates before you book and we will go through the options together.
